Childhood Home - The Half Bath & Mudroom

Today I’m sharing the half bathroom and mudroom in our Childhood Home project. These two areas of the home are often overlooked when it comes to home improvement projects, but they can make a huge difference in the overall look and feel of the home.

The half bath was original from the 1990s and had an old outdated oak cabinet and almond toilet. The space lacked any sense of style or modern design. We wanted to update the space to something sleek and sophisticated.

To achieve this, we started by replacing the old linoleum flooring with new luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring. LVP is a great option for a bathroom because it's durable, waterproof, easy to clean, and looks great. We also removed the old oak cabinet and replaced it with a black vanity. The vanity features gold hardware and a quartz top, which added a touch of elegance to the space. We also upgraded the toilet to a more modern and efficient model. The combination of the new vanity and toilet made the space feel instantly more luxurious.

We installed a new light fixture, mirror, and painted the walls a fresh, bright white color to make the space feel bigger and more open.

Finally, we updated the door hardware to a matte black lever. It's amazing how such a small change can make such a big difference in the overall look and feel of the space.

The finished product was a modern, sophisticated half bath that we are thrilled with.

The mudroom is often one of the first spaces you see when entering a home, so it's important that it's functional and aesthetically pleasing. This space was previously the laundry room, but we wanted to move it upstairs to a different part of the house to free up space for a mudroom. To accomplish this, we started by identifying the new location for the laundry room and running the necessary plumbing and electrical lines. Once that was completed, we moved the washer and dryer to their new home and started working on the mudroom remodel.

We wanted the mudroom to be a functional and stylish space with plenty of storage. To achieve this, we installed a locker system. This provided ample storage for shoes, jackets, bags, and other items that tend to clutter a mudroom. We also installed new LVP flooring, which is durable and easy to clean, making it perfect for a high-traffic area like a mudroom.

One of the most exciting features of this mudroom remodel was the addition of a dog spa. This spa could also double as a boot wash area, making it a versatile and practical addition to the space. We installed matte black delta faucet fixtures to add a touch of sophistication to the space while also ensuring that the fixtures were durable and easy to clean.

Finally, we added a fresh coat of paint and new light fixtures to make the space feel bright and welcoming. The finished product was a functional and stylish mudroom that we’re proud of.
