Childhood Home - The Living Room

Hey there! We're excited to share with you the complete transformation of the living room in our recent remodel project, my childhood home. We're thrilled with the results and can't wait to show you the before and after pictures.

First things first, let's talk about the flooring. The old blue carpet was not only outdated but had seen better days. We decided to replace it with LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring, which not only looks modern and sleek but also provides durability and easy maintenance. The new flooring transformed the living room's look and feel, giving it a more spacious and sophisticated look.

Next, we tackled the fireplace. The old fireplace was outdated and the brick needed some TLC. We painted the brick with a fresh coat of off-white paint that brightened up the space and created a clean, modern look. We replaced the old mantel with a brown wood one, and created a beautiful focal point in the room that provides a cozy ambiance for those chilly evenings.

Another big project was replacing the built-in cabinets on either side of the fireplace. The old ones were outdated and made to fit a deep box TV. We removed the old built-ins and replaced them with custom-made shelves and cabinets that provided more storage and gave a modern look. The new built-ins blend in seamlessly with the room's overall design and provide plenty of space to store electronics, books, knick-knacks, and other decor items. We topped them with quartz contertops and finished them with matte black hardware.

We painted the walls with a fresh coat of paint. We chose a greige color that complements the new flooring and adds a touch of elegance to the room. The new paint brightened up the space and created a calming atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing and entertaining.

We also updated the screened-in porch that's connected to the living room by adding a pendant light and replacing the screens. We gave it a fresh coat of paint to match the living room's color scheme, which really tied the two spaces together and created a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors. The pendant light provides a soft glow that makes the porch feel cozy and inviting, perfect for relaxing on warm summer evenings.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with the transformation of this living room. The new LVP flooring, updated fireplace, new built-ins, and fresh coat of paint created a modern and sophisticated look that's perfect for any family's needs. We hope you enjoyed reading about our remodel project, and we can't wait to share more with you soon!
